Lung Disease Caused by Food Flavoring Could be Widespread
The chemical diacetyl is a substance that is found in many foods naturally but is also used to make food flavorings. NIOSH has linked the substance to bronchiolitis obliterans, a potentially fatal disease that has made at least 200 workers at popcorn plants sick.
